Thanx, I am glad you like it. After the first version is out, I will take suggestions from people asking how to make it better. _________________ Patrick Stone

I like the app alot but if you do just one thing it will become the best shell.
Add a prgmlist scroll thing (like in MiragOS). Now you only can see one program at time. If you did this it will be the best shell i think.
Go on! 8) _________________ ---Nick Corthals---

What exactly is the benefit from a program scroll list? I like only displaying one at a time (it's easier, takes less room on the screen, and I can tell more about the program). I don't want BES to be a look-a-like to MirageOS, although it is already in some ways. But I don't want it to be a cheap knock-off. Maybe I should post a poll asking what people think. _________________ Patrick Stone

At the moment, no, the ASM version does not allow modified GUIs. Basically, for this program to work, it has to clear the spot where the program image is displayed along with the spot where the shell is displayed. The first complete ASM version will most likely not support outside GUIs. However, once the shell is done, it would be easy to implement this. But for now, I am only concentrating on making it an APP. _________________ Patrick Stone

Wow, it's been almost a year to the date since my last post in this thread. Anyway, BES 4.0 is coming along. Sadly, I hadn't worked on it in a long time due to work and school (and tutoring and girlfriend and sleeping). However, Thomas posted something on my facebook wall that made everything come into view. Although I am already stretched thin, what's a little thinner? I love programming, especially BES, and I always wanted to finish it. Lucky, I am finding little time here and there to do things.
So, I am planning on releasing a beta next week (Oct 12th or 13th, 2006). There are active topics at other forums about this. Check out the announcement in the news section. _________________ Patrick Stone

Here's the state of BES 4.0 as of this exact minute.
It has the following features (BES 4.0 Beta):
-It is an Application
-It can display tons of information about the current program, such as:
-----Archive Status : Archived, Unarchived
-----Lock Status : Locked, Unlocked
-----Program Size : In Bytes (correct to the byte)
-----Program Type : ASM, Basic
-----Shell Association : ION, MirageOS (MOS), DoorsCS (DCS), Black Eagle Shell (BES), None
-----Program Desciription : For ASM programs that are ION or MirageOS files
-----Program Image : For ASM programs that are MirageOS files
-It can Archive/Unarchive the selected program
-It can Lock/Unlock the selected program
-It can delete the selected program
-It can display the amount of free RAM and free ROM (correct to the byte)
-It can display the shell credits
-It can hibernate
-It can display calculator information, such as:
-----Calculator Type : TI-83+, TI-83+ SE, TI-84+, TI-84+ SE
-----Free RAM : Correct to the byte
-----Free ROM : Correct to the byte
-----Battery Status : Good, Bad
-----Contrast : Numerical Setting
-----TI-OS Version : X.XX
-It can reset the RAM (without deleting BES 4.0, of course).
-It can display shell information, such as:
-----Version : X.X (Beta)
-----Release Date : ABC XX, XXXX
-----Author Name : Patrick Stone
-----Group Name : Suicidal Psycho Software
-----Website : geocities.com/suipsysof
Here are the things I still need to do (BES 4.0 Beta):
+Add ability to run a program (BASIC, TI-OS ASM)
+Add Special User Settings to Settings Menu for the following:
+++++Lowercase : On/Off
+++++Inverse Text : On/Off
+++++Run Indicator : On/Off
Here is what needs to be done before final release (BES 4.0):
=Ability to Hide/Unhide programs
=Password Protection
=Possibly GUI support
=Ability to run ION (not too hard to do) programs and MirageOS (hard to do) programs
=Ability to read DoorsCS and BES BASIC program images and BASIC MirageOS program desciriptions
I am sure there are a couple of things I forgot. So, there is still a lot of work to do, but I am in to it. Thanks. _________________ Patrick Stone
